The Power

The Story

1973: a young nurse is forced to work the night shift in a crumbling hospital as striking miners switch off the power across Britain. But inside the walls lurks a terrifying presence that threatens to consume her and everyone around her.

The Good

Rose Williams is great in this role as Val the new trainee nurse, who is starting a new job at a hospital during the miners strike in the 1970’s. She’s likeable, naive and about to have the worst shift of her life. What I like about Rose is her ability to portray with her eyes, everything her character experiences as the story unfolds. She quickly has to toughen up to get through the night and survive. I hope to see more of Rose in the future, she could become a big star. The supporting cast are good. The cinematography really captures the atmosphere of the dark, old hospital.

The Bad

Nothing new here story wise, creepy old building, people keeping a dark secret and attempts to scare the audience with jumps scares etc.

The Verdict

The Power is a period piece movie, with a modern message. Great acting, atmospheric and not a bad British horror movie.

⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ out of five stars.
