Godzilla Vs Kong

The Story

Kong and his protectors undertake a perilous journey to find his true home. Along for the ride is Jia, an orphaned girl who has a unique and powerful bond with the mighty beast. However, they soon find themselves in the path of an enraged Godzilla as he cuts a swath of destruction across the globe. The initial confrontation between the two titans instigated by unseen forces is only the beginning of the mystery that lies deep within the core of the planet.

The Good

This is the big battle that we’ve all been waiting for. The two titans have been on a collision course building from the previous Godzilla and Kong movies. The battles are pretty epic and you get more than just one big fight at the end, you get a few fights throughout the movie. The cgi is pretty amazing, Kong and Godzilla look epic. The scenery, buildings and Mechagodzilla also look great. Millie Bobby Brown is great in her role again, she was an important character in Godzilla King of the Monsters, so it’s good that she’s back. The deaf girl Jia who has a bond with Kong is great too, she even teaches Kong to sign which gorillas can be taught to do so that’s a nice touch. She’s pretty important in keeping Kong under some control as the adults around her have no idea how to deal with Kong. I liked the fact that it told a bit of the back story of the kaiju, Kong in particular as you get to see a bit more about their history and where the came from.

The Bad

All the battles are really good and brutal in parts smashing up ships, bridges, buildings and other Titans. The cgi looks great, but there’s not much of a plot or a lot for some of the actors to do. I know most of the story has been told in the previous movies and you do learn a bit more in this one about where the kaiju come from, but it just concentrates more on the action and cgi here. It jumps from Godzilla’s story to Kong’s story back and fourth that some of the story gets rushed along a bit to fast. I won’t dwell on that to much though there’s only so much you can do in a two hour movie.

The Verdict

Godzilla Vs Kong is an enjoyable action packed movie, with great cgi that any monster movie fan will enjoy.
