Needing a male heir to the throne, Prince Azeem returns to Queens, N.Y., to find his long-lost son and bring him back to Zamunda.
The cast from the first movie are all back and some new characters too. It’s great to see Eddie Murphy back in some big movies these days as I loved all his movies back in the 80’s. It was an interesting choice to make a sequel to Coming To America and I was looking forward to seeing what they did with it. Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall back in their roles as they made a great comedy duo.
Sequels are very rarely better than the first movie and that’s the story here again. It feels like why did they bother? It’s 30 years later what’s the point in a sequel now and feels like a cash grab. It has some funny moments and the cast is pretty stellar, but the story isn’t very good or makes much sense. There’s lots of product placement for McDonald’s, Pepsi, Puma and Spotify, which definitely make it feel like a cash grab. The heart and story of the original movie isn’t there and it’s really not a very good movie.
A sequel 30 years to late which could have been a lot better.
