Vampires Vs The Bronx

The Story

Vampires vs. the Bronx is a 2020 American comedy horror film directed by Osmany Rodriguez and written by Osmany Rodriguez and Blaise Hemingway. The film follows a group of teenagers who are forced to protect their neighborhood in the Bronx when a gathering of vampires invades.

The Good

The story isn’t very original, but the execution is pretty decent. The kids performances are pretty good. There’s a lot of symbolism going on as the vampires represent the rich taking advantage of the poor and of gentrification. There’s some funny moments and it’s a pretty fun movie.

The Bad

This is going to get comparisons to The Lost Boys and you can certainly see why. There’s some scenes like the one in the church where the kids get holy water to fight the vampires is just like the scene in The Lost Boys where Sam and The Frog brothers do the same. There’s also the scene where they kill a vampire who is sleeping hanging upside down in their lair, just like the scene in the cave in The Lost Boys.

The Verdict

There’s nothing new here, but it’s a pretty enjoyable movie, with some funny scenes and action. It’s another one of this movies you don’t have to think about and can just kick back and enjoy.
