In this interview I talk to Jen all about music and vinyl.
Why did you decide to start a vinyl themed Instagram?
I started a vinyl themed Instagram account for two reasons mainly, I wanted to challenge myself creatively, and I have been writing music reviews ever since I was a child, and thought it was a good idea to combine them both.
How long have you been collecting records and how many do you have in your collection?
I currently have around 500 records, I only really started collecting around mid 2016, before that it was all digitally. My dad collected vinyl records though, and his listening sessions were holy to him; I kind of wanted the same thing for myself, to make listening to albums into a more highlighted event.
What’s your favourite vinyl you own and what is your holy grail?
I don’t really have a holy grail at the moment, my aim is rather to collect my favourite albums of all time and to have a collection that simply reflects who I am.
Who’s in your top five of favourite bands?
If I had to make a top five consisting of only bands it would be The Beatles (seeing as both my parents were huge, huge fans as well) Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd and Radiohead.
If you could have dinner with any musician from any time who would it be and why?
My favourite artist of all time is David Bowie and that’s the one person I’d have dinner with!
I like your photos their pretty creative. I like the sleeve face and recreations of album covers, how do you come up with some of your ideas?
Oh wow – inspiration comes from all over the place, they seem to just pop up in my head and it’s a pretty clear image of what I want to do – it doesn’t always turn out as expected but you have to wing it sometimes
Any recommendations on movies, tv shows or music?
My music recommendations – one thing I love to do is go through other people’s playlists, lists of best ever albums, artists, genres.. year by year lists! There’s so much great stuff out there to discover, with time, patience and boldness!
