In this interview I talk to Flower all about music, vinyl and dancing.
Why did you decide to start a vinyl themed Instagram?
I just needed an outlet to connect with like-minded people. I had no idea there was a vinyl community. I was proud of my 20+ records and I wanted to share my new passion and my love for music.
How long you been been collecting records and how many do you have in your collection?
I bought my first Vinyl boxset in 2008. After that, I started buying a few signed records here and there, but I didn’t start my vinyl collection until 2018 when I noticed many artists I like pressed their new albums in the vinyl format and also reissued past albums on phonograph records. I thought it was so cool!
What’s your favourite vinyl you own and what is your holy grail?
Favourite Vinyl is hard because I love all my vinyl! In Spanish, Zoé by Zoé. It is their first album and it brings beautiful memories. In English, Pearl Jam MTV Unplugged. It sounds amazing!
My Holy Grail is my Héroes del Silencio DeLuxe vinyl boxset that I found in Zaragoza, Spain. At the time, vinyl wasn’t as popular as it is now and the limited edition item was only sold in Spain, Mexico and a few countries in Latin America, but travelled to Spain for my 25th birthday. I Went to the city that saw this band born and inside a music store, there it was… the blue velvet boxset that contained their 4 studio albums that Héroes del Silencio ever recorded from 1988-1995, 2 live Albums and their first single Héroe de Leyenda, among other collector’s stuff. My precious!!
I like the videos of you dancing and your dog interrupting your push up challenge. Are you going to be posting more videos like this?
That is a good question and there’s a good chance that I will be posting more videos of me dancing. Music flows in me. I can’t help it, I am latin! Wait until you hear me sing!!
Who’s in your top five of favourite bands?
Pearl Jam, Zoé, Alice in Chains, Franz Ferdinand and The Doors.
If you could have dinner with any musician from any time who would it be and why?
That’s a tough one! my music style is all over the place and has evolved throughout my life. I have admired different musicians/bands that I would like to have them all sitting with me, but if I have to choose now, of course Eddie Vedder! Because not only I identify with the anger and emotions in his songwriting and think he is so talented, but he is also a beautiful human being. I have seen him live a few times, both with Pearl Jam and solo, and he transmits such a majestic vibe. I have many questions. And yeah! I mean… how cool would that be to have dinner with “the” Eddie Vedder!!
Any recommendations on movies, tv shows or music?
TV Shows: Mindhunter, Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes and You. I am into that kind of stuff on Netflix!
Music: These are a few bands I have been into lately: Joywave, Cigarettes After Sex and Miami Horror.
