An Interview With rockngrolla

In this interview I talk to all about Jimmy all about music and vinyl.

Why did you decide to start a vinyl themed Instagram?

It just kinda happened. If you scroll long enough you’ll find my posts before vinyl took over. What kept me in doing so and what slowly transformed my account to be all about vinyl (or music) are all the amazing people. I’m not that active and chatty but I really like this community and to talk to like-minded people from all over the globe and another big plus is all the new music I get to discover. It’s a wonderful community to say the least.

How long have you been been collecting records and how many do you have in your collection?

It’s been almost four years since I started collecting for real. You know, like a drug addict always looking to score I’m always on the hunt for more vinyl. Besides that I got a bunch of vinyl from my youth before the CD took over but that doesn’t count. I’m super glad I’ve kept them all these years though. I think I have something like 450 records. I haven’t counted in a really long time and I’m way behind on the Discogs part.

What’s your favourite vinyl you own and what is your holy grail?

I actually don’t know… Of course I’ve got favourites, but that has more to do with my musical taste. For now I’m only interested in getting my hands on the album rather than a specific press. My holy grail is “Guns N’ Roses – Live Era 87-93” but since it costs way more than I would ever spend on a record I’ll have to keep my fingers crossed for a repress.

Who’s in your top five of favourite bands?

Questions like these always sucks, why do you do this to me. Closest to my heart will always be Guns N’ Roses, Nirvana, Metallica and Foo Fighters whom been there for me since forever. Then we got bands like Judas, Sabbath, Zeppelin which should be on every top five. And then there’s Seether, Palaye Royale, Avenged Sevenfold, In Flames. I could go on forever but I’ll leave it at that and I’m sorry for not answering your question properly.

If you could have dinner with any musician from any time who would it be and why?

Hmmm… There’s plenty of em for various reasons but I’ll have to go with Dave Grohl because he seems like the most genuine and coolest dude ever.

I like your photos there pretty creative, how do you come up with some of your ideas?

Thanks man and it’s mostly something I’ll think of while picking out the record I fancy listen to at the moment. Sometimes I’ve got an idea in my head for a couple of days but that ain’t often.

Any recommendations on movies, tv shows or music?

I rarely watch movies these days but I watch as many series as I can. If you haven’t seen Fargo I strongly recommend you to do so, I think I read somewhere that there’s a fourth season in the making. When it comes to music you should definitely check out Tidal Wave, a band from my hometown that’s really really good.
