An Interview With

In this interview I talk to Paula all about vinyl, Instagram and Depeche Mode.

Paula: My name is Paula Villanueva I live in Tijuana, México I have been in love with Depeche Mode since I was about 8 years old. The first song I heard from them was I Just Cant get enough trough my older brother.

DM is not just a group for me, it’s a feeling thanks to them I have met the most amazing people, I have been a part of their lifes and vice versa.

Why did you decide to start a vinyl themed Instagram?

Actually my Instagram didn’t have anything to do with records when I first started, there was random pictures of me and some DM stuff. Until one day I came across @celerah vinyl account, she invited me to do the #newwavewednesday and from there I discovered there was a vinyl community. I haven’t stop posting my DM records since.

How long have you been collecting records and how many do you have in your collection?

Well I got my first vinyl when I was about 13 years old, my older brother gave it to me since he was a DJ. He knew that it was going to be in good hands and what group was it? Depeche Mode of course.

I have around maybe 250, many of them are repetided but if I see a DM vinyl I just need to have it

What’s your favourite vinyl you own and what is your vinyl holy grail?

My favorite vinyl, wow… You are killing me with this question Black Celebration, there is not a song from that vinyl that I skip. My holy grail has to be Speak and Spell, that was the vinyl that my older brother gave me, I have a emotional attachament to that.

Your favourite band is Depeche Mode and you have some Depeche Mode tattoos. How many tattoos do you have?

Every time I have that question I need to make a pause and count them, 6 in total.

Who’s in your top five of favourite bands?

Depeche Mode, New Order, Pet Shop Boys, INXS and Erasure

If you could have dinner with any musician from any time who would it be and why?

Dave Gahan is my ultimate crush I will said Martin Gore he wrote for a lot of DM fans the sountracks of our lifes, his songs got me trough a lot of bad times and they have been for me in good times also, so thats why I will choose him.

Any recommendations on movies, tv shows or music?

Yes! There is a lot of great spanish/latín rock groups Soda Stereo, Héroes del Silencio, Enrique Bunbury, Caifanes just to name a few.
