In this interview I talk to Richard all about vinyl and feet?
Richard: Hey David, first of all thanks for this interview, my name is Richard, I’m a film-maker and my two main obsessions are vinyl and feet lol. In film school they used to call me Tarantino, one cause I have a foot fetish and two cause I shoot my movies non-sequential. I have always loved music and movies, they go hand in hand, so when I first started this page was gonna be mainly to share my vinyl collection together with some movies however, the first person to follow me was a lovely lady called @celerah, I started going thru her photos and what do I see pictures of her vinyl collection with her beautiful feet! Right there and then I got the idea for @vinylandfeet
I did some research, there was no one reposting these amazing photos, also the name was available and there were many other accounts that would take photos with their vinyl collection and their pretty feet as well. I asked Celerah if I could repost her photos, she said yes and the rest is history!
How long have you been collecting records and how many do you have in your collection?
I bought my very first record when I was 10 years old, I saved my lunch money so I could buy Whitesnake – “Live…in the Heart of the City” which i still own to this day, so I been collecting for about 35 years. From there it became and obsession I started buying records left and right, a few years back my collection was at about 1,800 which it was overwhelming. I collect many other things as well like movies, Star Wars and Horror memorabilia, it was taking over my entire house. So about 3 years ago I did a vinyl record show and sold over 1,200 records. Then I gave my nephew about 200 so he could start his own vinyl collection, now thanks to this page and all these wonderful people I have met in this vinyl community my compulsive collecting/buying side lol, I started buying records again and now I’m back at over 650 albums!
What’s your favourite vinyl you own and what is your holy grail?
Well that’s a very hard question, I would have to say that my favorite vinyl is actually the Rob Zombie’s “Shock..Shock…Shock!!!” vinyl box set. It has his entire solo career, but my favorite is got to be “The Electric Warlock Acid Witch Satanic Orgy Celebration Dispenser” which I got it autographed by him a few years back. Now as for my holy grail, I would have to go with Mötley Crüe’s self title album with John Corabi. I have the cd but I never got the vinyl record, don’t get me wrong I love Vince but that album with Corabi was extremely heavy, one day I’ll pay the hefty price and get it.
Who’s in your top five of favourite bands?
I was raised in the 80’s so my favorite music is hair metal / rock, these are my top five bands:
1. Rob Zombie
3. Mötley Crüe
4. Iron Maiden
5. Red Hot Chili Peppers
If you could have dinner with any musician from any time who would it be and why?
There so many people I would love to meet and hear their stories but I would have to pick Rob Zombie. I love his music, his artistic classic mentality, his 60’s-70’s music taste, his love for classic horror creatures like Frankenstein and Dracula to Aliens and Robots. His concerts are out of this world, plus he’s also a film-maker, so we would have so much to talk about!!
Any recommendations on movies, tv shows or music?
I’m into classic horror and sci-fi, love Psycho, however anything from Hitchcock is a masterpiece! Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street (only the originals), Evil Dead, all of Tarantino’s movies. Of course Star Wars lol… tv shows I love Lost, Supernatural, Bates Motel, Walking Dead, The 100, Breaking Bad, Into the Badlands. In music, as I mentioned prior I’m mostly into 70’s – 80’s rock and heavy metal, but check out September Mourning not only their music is great but they have a comic book to follow along!
